cuban cigars, cigar accessories

Anyone with a knowledge of history that stretches back, oh, fifty years or so, knows that there is serious bad blood between the island nation of Cuba, 90 miles off our shores, and the United States, the world's sole remaining superpower. Because of all the political baggage in this relationship, it's meant that Cuban cigars have been illegal in this country for more than four decades. Now, to be honest I know that many Americans don't take the trade ban with Cuba seriously even heavy hitters in American politics like California governator Arnold Schwarzenegger smoke Cuban cigars, which are widely acknowledged by afficionados as the best cigars in the world. But the fact remains that it's illegal to import Cuban cigars, Cuban rum, or even Cuban cigar accessories. The trade ban with Cuba remains in place despite the fact that despised dictator Fidel Castro has stepped down. As someone who relishes the taste and aroma of fine Cuban cigars myself, I think it's high time that America put away this embargo on Cuban goods and embarked on a policy of open trade, open travel and poltical engagement. Let's hope that the next incoming president, most likely Barack Obama, will rethink the U.S.'s Cuba policy and give us access to some fine, legally obtained Cuban cigars.
