cuban cigarsI find it infuriating that Cuban cigars are still illegal in the United States. The way I see it, the United States government deprives people of many of life’s little luxuries when it imposes a trade embargo on another country in the futile endeavor to impose a political agenda.
If you think about it, the fact that Cuban cigars are still illegal makes the US government look very hypocritical. American athletes have gone to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. President Bush himself recently went to Beijing to attend the 2008 Olympics. Furthermore, a significant percentage of the low quality goods that are imported into the US each day are made in China. The last time I checked, China was still a Communist country with an appalling human rights record.
To make matters worse, the list of American politicians, celebrities and successful business executives who are known to purchase and smoke Cuban cigars is extensive. Smoking Cuban cigars might not be regarded as a very serious crime these days, yet it is still illegal here in the United States, and that ‘sucks.’
