Despite the trade embargo against Cuban products that's been in place since the early 60s, it's still possible to obtain handmade Cuban cigars. For instance, if you travel to Canada or Mexico, you can buy Cuban cigars, and they're widely available in the Caribbean region. In fact, it's surprisingly easy to fill your humidor with Cuban cigars if you don't care about violating the laws against purchasing products from Cuba. In fact, many Americans feel that the embargo has outlived its usefulness. Some politicians are now preaching that it would be better to permit free trade with Cuba in order to engage the government of Cuba and influence it through trade policies and tourism. At least if the embargo was lifted, cigar lovers could light up a handrolled Cuban without guilt or the knowledge that they're breaking the law.
